Organic market in Valladolid, Spain: Helping educational projects in the Philippines

2015_09_30_N&E_Photo1The University School of Agricultural Engineering (INEA in Spanish) in Valladolid, Spain held its latest edition of the Ecological and Solidarity Market last 16 September jointly with growers of organic gardens, a green project that the community has looked forward to since 10 years ago.

On this occasion, the funds raised were donated to the Apu Palamguwan Cultural Education Center (APC)  in Bendum in northern Mindanao, Philippines that provides Kinder to Grade 6 classes for about 300 students. APC has been operating an upland elementary school for the Pulangiyen indigenous communities for more than 10 years. And for this school year, APC offered Grade 7 classes and around 30 students are currently enrolled.

Presentation at National Congress of the EEAS

m_2014-06-14-13-52-50-1The Ecological Gardens Hon. Ayto of INEA Valladolid have been present at the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture (EEAS).

The paper entitled “Urban organic garden as a new model of family farming: the case of occupational organic orchards of Valladolid” INEA has participated in the XI National Congress of the EEAS which was held in Vitoria 1 to 4 October 2014 under the theme “Organic Farming Family” in 2014 dedicated by the United Nations Agriculture and Food Family Farming.

It is realziando studies to see the possibility of getting a geographical indication or designation of origin. So it has come reflected in the press these days in the vicinity of Valladolid.

Ten years of organic orchards

Not surprisingly, after ten years of collaboration College of Agricultural Engineering (INEA) -Town Hall of Valladolid this act is more a protocol than a ceremony relaxed meeting. This resource for organic orchards have already enjoyed some 800 people since its inception. Each with a story to share with those who come to the farm of INEA. Today we have added 36 new gardeners over 60 years old to start the 2014 season will occupy as many gardens available to those who have accessed by lot, and provided it is for personal gain. Only in the ecological and charity market, which this year is celebrated on August 29, the products are sold for charity.
