The Scholastics and Brothers Circle (SBC) of Jesuit Conference Asia Pacific (JCAP) selected disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) as their annual workshop theme for 2015 and for 12 days in December, they gathered in Tacloban in Leyte, Philippines engaging directly with communities, local governments and Church groups and learned how people are recovering and actively participating in the reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The JCAP-DRRM protocol was also a focus and helped develop the framework for post-disaster response. Protocol is about learning how to act as one in the broader Jesuit network and make decisions that connect all and coordinate action for more coherent in the broader movement for action.

Asia Pacific Jesuits laud Pope’s focus on ecological care

JCAPecologyThe Major Superiors of the Jesuit Conference Asia Pacific have offered a sincere and enthusiastic welcome for Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment, Laudato si‘ (‘On the Care of Our Common Home’). In a joint statement, the Major Superiors said the Pope ‘draws attention to the urgent need for reconciliation with creation, already one of our apostolic priorities in Asia Pacific’.

ESSC integrates research planning with Our Environmental Way of Proceeding

Project_Photo_23Jan2013ESSC framed the planning activity with two objectives: to build a common understanding and shared approach to the research agenda and to commit to collaborate with others and work towards Our Environmental Way of Proceeding. The OEWP document provides a framework and an operative spirituality that guides in the experience of, and deepens our relationship with, creation and Creator.
