Helping ex-prisoners in Thailand reintegrate into society

The Emmaus Center is situated on a two-acre lot in Mae Tang District, Chiang Mai, and is focussed on organic farming.  The main office building, Emmaus House, was completed two months ago, on May 29, and by next month, Kep hopes to have the house fully furnished and operational.  There are plans to engage in handicraft and carpentry work, especially making small furniture and utensils that can be used in the house and farm.  The team hopes to include carpentry in its skills training programme in the future.

Conversion in the light of Laudato Si’

Religious and lay people from six countries – Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Ghana, Brazil and Spain – have ended the fourth theoretical-practical Week of Ecological Conversion held in INEA, Valladolid. This proposal born in the environment of the INEA’s Organic Gardens and it is growing with the call of Pope Francis Laudato Si’. The encyclical continues appealing religious and lay people.

Loyola inaugura usina fotovoltaica

Para a Companhia de Jesus, por meio do provincial dos Jesuítas do Brasil, Pe. João Renato Eidt, SJ, a criação da Usina Solar Padre Furusawa possui grande importância a favor da vida: “Este projeto é um sinal concreto do cuidado com a vida e com a ecologia em nossa ação apostólica. A produção de energia limpa, além de demonstrar à sociedade que há alternativas para isso, é acima de tudo um sinal do nosso compromisso com a vida e com a criação em sua totalidade. Acreditamos que esta usina, além de ser pioneira, pode inspirar outras iniciativas de entidades e organizações preocupadas com a questão socioambiental”.

Diez años de Historia Verde

Historia Verde no es solo sembrar y restaurar, sino que está lleno de emociones y sentimientos que están ligados a la universidad. Este proyecto multiplica especies de difícil propagación, optimiza el aporte de especies arbóreas al urbanismo, el empleo de agua y energía, y reduce la huella ecológica. Igualmente es laboratorio de múltiples iniciativas enmarcados en cuatro campos de acción: animales, jardín botánico javeriano, sostenibilidad, y difusión-investigación. “El compromiso de la Javeriana es y seguirá siendo la creación de un campus valioso para demostrar que hay otra manera de crear relaciones, profesiones y desarrollo”, afirmó el padre Castellanos.

Sustainable and Resilient Universities

Our University, together with the University Network of Latin America and the Caribbean for Reducing Disaster Risk (REDULAC / DRR) are invited to participate in the national workshop on Campaign sustainable and resilient universities to be held on 26, 27 and 28 July on campus.

1001 saplings planted on environment day

On environment day, June 5 of 2018, students and staff of St.Xavier’s Thumba planted 1001 saplings in and off the campus. Sri. P Felix (President, Kadinamkulam Grama Panchayath), Dr. Fr. v Y Dasappan S J (Principal), Dr. J Justus, Smt. Edna richard (Vice-Principals), and Dr. harish S R (Nature Club Co-ordinator) addressed the gathering.
