“Each green initiative on our campus diverts resources from unsustainable projects to renewable, cost effective ones. Beyond the savings and the environmental benefits, these initiatives also create learning opportunities and fulfill the Jesuit ideal to be stewards of God’s creation.” – President Eugene J. Cornacchia

April 13, 2016, Wednesday, 7:00-8:15 pm The DeNaples Center Ballroom(407) Spring Sustainability Symposium. 60 minute presentation and panel discussion Topic for the evening: “Climate Change, A Time for Change”.
In the last five years, students have diverted over 25 tons of material during the move-out process. Our individual actions to sort our stuff during move-out not only help to reduce our impact on the environment, but also help SCU to save money in landfill fees! Scroll through the categories below and check out the maps of your residence hall (alphabetically) to learn what to do with all your stuff as you pack up for the summer.
Our purpose is to characterize the waste that we are sending to the landfill to see where we need to improve or expand waste reduction, recycling, and composting programs. These characterizations will allow us to develop useful and interesting data on the waste stream that will help us reduce landfill waste from campus, with the goal of achieving Zero Waste*.
