The 2017-2018 academic school year began just over a month ago at the Xavier Jesuit School in Sisophon Cambodia. This year, we welcomed two more Grade 7 classes on top of the Grade 8 class to our secondary school. The school year began on the 16th of October 2017 and as part of the curriculum, each high school grade has two hours of Agriculture Classes a week scheduled into their weekly time-table.
It has only been just over a month and the vegetable garden is thriving. They are almost readied for harvesting. Each class is assigned three to four rows of garden-bed and they get to plant the vegetables and herbs of their choice.
After a decade long experience in environmental education, we felt the need to initiate an innovative environmental education program which develops leadership qualities for environmental protection. The program thus was designed and experimented as a pilot program in 2014 with 25 students at St. Joseph’s High school, Vadodara. We scaled up this program in a gradual manner every year and this year we have introduced it in eight schools situated at different parts of Gujarat.

The admission of Fe y Alegría from the Democratic Republic of the Congo was the most important and most consoling point in the XXXIII International Assembly of Fe y Alegría, which took place from 9 to 14 April, in Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil.
The Congo, is the third country in Africa where there is presence of Fe y Alegría, first came to Chad in 2007 and then to Madagascar in 2013.
